Prayers are offered to the river Cauvery, outside Chennai in Tamil Nadu. River Cauvery is the lifeline of millions of people in the State of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is the major source for drinking water, domestic water needs and irrigation purpose. Cauvery is polluted by industries, chemical and fertilisers used for agriculture purpose, sewage from the cities . The river Cauvery is revered as sacred and people worship it.
